Subsets

A subset consists of a set of components that display when you launch ConstructSim Planner. You can create a subset to download only the components you need, which speeds up the download of a model to your local system. After a VCM is created and when you launch ConstructSim Planner, the Partial Loading Subsets dialog opens and gives you the option of loading the full model or a subset of the model.

Note: The dialog does not display when you open an existing overlay file directly, or when you select Get latest VCM from the ConstructSim Work Package Server, unless this is the first time you are launching ConstructSim Planner.

There are two types of subsets:

My Subsets: Subsets that you create and are only accessible to you. You can edit these subsets and access them from any machine where you log on.
Global Subsets: Project-specific subsets created by the Administrator. They are visible to all users but can be edited only by the Administrator.

A subset can consist of:

a single discipline (containing both graphical and non-graphical components)
multiple disciplines (containing both graphical and non-graphical components)

If you want to preserve the local subsets (My Subsets), you need to upload them to the server. If you download without synchronizing first, your local subsets are overwritten.

Unless the Administrator makes a change in the ConstructSim Executive workflow, you can only create subsets to match the setup in the Components dialog (for example, if the Components dialog shows Discipline > Area, the Create Subsets dialog shows the same setup). You can add more than one Discipline to a subset.
